For the parent approaching weaning with a baby who already has reflux, and quietly dreading it.

Weaning with Reflux Weaning with Reflux · The Food Pillar of the Reflux Roadmap

Weaning advice is written for babies who don’t have reflux. Yours does.

You followed it. The purées, the schedules, the “introduce allergens early.” And the flares came anyway.

Weaning with Reflux teaches you which foods your baby’s gut can actually digest at this stage of their development, so food stops being the thing that sets everything off.

You can have their first safe-food plan in front of you today.

This course is for the parent who has already watched food change her baby, for better or worse, and wants to understand why. If you’re looking for cute purée recipes and “make mealtimes fun” content, this isn’t that. If you want to know what is actually happening inside your baby’s gut when a meal goes wrong, keep reading.

If this is you

It’s five o’clock. A new food is on the tray. And you’re not watching your baby eat, you’re watching for the flush in her cheeks.

Every mouthful is a question you can’t answer, and every night after a new food you lie awake listening for the fidgeting to start.

You’ve asked for help, and you already know what comes back.

“Just feed them from your plate.”

“Introduce allergens early.”

“Make it fun.”

“Some babies are just sensitive.”

So every week you rotate the same three safe foods, googling every ingredient at midnight, while the weaning window everyone told you to enjoy keeps moving without you.

There’s a part you don’t usually say out loud: everyone promised weaning would be the fun bit, and you dread it.

And underneath that sits the real fear: that one wrong food will undo months of hard-won progress, or set her up for allergies you could have prevented.

You did not cause any of this. The advice you were given was written for a baby whose gut isn’t fighting anything, and you have already paid for enough appointments that ended with “she’ll grow out of it.”

None of it is random. There is a reason food does this, and you can learn to read it.

Your baby is not a fussy eater. Your baby is giving you information.

Áine Homer, The Baby Reflux Lady
Why I built this

They told me to feed my baby white bread.

At my first NHS introducing-solids session, I was told not to give whole grains because babies “can’t digest them yet.” The recommendation was white bread, white rice, white pasta.

I sat there thinking: I wouldn’t eat that, so why would I feed it to my baby?

I’m a mechanical engineer by training, and every problem has a cause, so I started questioning everything about how we introduce food to babies.

With my own daughter I had followed the advice: the purées, the stages, the food diaries. Her reflux flared anyway, her nappies changed, and her sleep got worse when it was supposed to be getting better.

Nobody could explain it, except to say some babies are just sensitive.

What I found is that the standard advice ignores the single most important fact about your baby: their digestive system is still immature, and that immaturity is normal development, not a problem to medicate.

I’ve spent over ten years since then working with thousands of families, written the book on baby reflux (with a foreword by Dr Mark Anthony, Consultant of Neonatal Medicine), and trained practitioners around the world in this method.

Weaning with Reflux is the Food pillar of my Reflux Roadmap, taught on its own, because for so many families food is exactly where reflux is won or lost.

What’s actually happening

Your baby doesn’t yet have the enzymes an adult has. That changes everything about weaning.

Babies are not born with the full suite of digestive enzymes, and they build them gradually as they mature. This is science, and it’s the piece missing from every standard weaning plan.

When a food arrives before the gut can break it down, it ferments. Fermentation means wind, bloating, abdominal discomfort, restless nights, and the reflux flares that look like your baby going backwards.

So the question is never “is my baby sensitive?” The question is: what can their gut digest at this stage, and what should wait?

Weaning with Reflux answers that. You’ll learn which foods match your baby’s digestive stage, how to introduce them in an order their body can handle, how to spot a reaction early and know what it’s telling you, and how to keep building toward a full, varied diet without the setbacks.

It works whether you’re about to start solids, already partway in and struggling, or feeding a toddler who still reacts to meals.

I have not found another weaning approach that starts from digestive immaturity, and it’s why this one works for babies with reflux, silent reflux, colic and allergies when the standard advice has failed.

A few weeks from now

New food day becomes interesting, not frightening.

She’s in the highchair reaching for the spoon, and you’re drinking your tea while it’s still hot, because you already know everything on that tray is within what her gut can handle.

You have a foundation of safe foods to come back to, a plan for what gets introduced next and when, and the ability to tell a real reaction from a teething day.

The midnight ingredient-googling stops. The three-food rotation stops. The bracing before every meal stops.

Digestive upset settles, and sleep stretches out with it, for her and for you.

And this knowledge stays with you: for this baby, for every stage of food that comes after, and for any future children.

Parents who weaned with this method

“Weaning is something I should have been excited about but having a baby with reflux left me full of dread as I approached weaning age. I signed up to this course and instantly felt relief and empowered to make the best decisions for my baby that would not result in a downwards reflux spiral! I was given information from professionals about weaning that I knew wouldn’t work for my baby and the course reaffirmed my gut instinct and provided me with the right knowledge and understanding to make good food choices for my baby. As we go in to Week 5 of weaning my baby is loving every mealtime and it has become the fun and exciting part of parenting that I always wanted it to be!”

Julie Ann Murray

“We were finally reflux free. Starting weaning we were back bothered by reflux. So I attended her weaning workshop and once again I had proof Áine was right. Her workshops are really valuable. I’ve learned so much and I have to thank her cause we were finally able to enjoy our lives stress-free.”

One pillar of the four-pillar Reflux Roadmap An honest note

Is this enough on its own?

For weaning, yes. This is the complete Food pillar: everything I teach about introducing and changing solids for a baby with reflux is in here, and you will not reach the end and find the real answers were held back for something more expensive.

Reflux has four possible roots: Function, Feeding, Food and Feeling. If food is where your baby’s battles happen (reactions to meals, wind, discomfort after eating, flares since starting solids), this course is the piece you need.

If you suspect the picture is bigger than food, my full Reflux Roadmap covers all four pillars, and this course is taken directly from it. Buy the one that matches your baby.

Questions parents ask before starting

My baby is older and has been on solids for a while. Will this still help?

Yes. If your child still reacts to meals, the method works the same way: identify what their gut can digest now, rebuild the safe-food foundation, and expand from there. I’ve used this approach with toddlers as well as babies starting out.

We haven’t started solids yet. Is it too early?

This is actually the best time. You’ll start with a plan matched to your baby’s digestive stage from the very first taste, and skip the trial-and-error most families with reflux go through.

My baby is on reflux medication. Is this still relevant?

Yes, and there’s a bonus workshop specifically on how medications affect your baby’s digestive system, including how to tell whether a reaction is the food or the medication. Nothing in this course asks you to change medication; that conversation belongs with your GP.

My baby already has diagnosed allergies or CMPA. Does this work for us?

The course is built for exactly this. It covers weaning with allergies and intolerances in play, introducing allergens and high-risk foods safely, and what to do when the safe list feels impossibly short.

I have your book. Do I need this as well?

The book explains reflux and the method; it’s the foundation. This course is the practical weaning system: the action plan, the meal plans, the food-by-food guidance the book doesn’t have room for. If weaning is your current battleground, this is the tool for it.

How much time does it take?

It’s self-paced, designed for parents with no spare hands. Watch the lessons from your phone in the gaps you have, and the meal plans and action plan do the heavy lifting day to day.

What qualifies you to teach this?

I’m a mum who lived this twice, and a mechanical engineer who refused to accept “some babies are just sensitive” as an answer. I’ve spent over ten years working with thousands of families, written The Baby Reflux Lady’s Survival Guide (foreword by Dr Mark Anthony, Consultant of Neonatal Medicine), and I train practitioners internationally in this method through my Diploma in Infant Reflux.
