REFLUX MEDICATIONS

Everything you need to know to make an informed decision for your baby

TAKE A BREATH,

The confusion and contradictions around reflux support for babies is crazy. and I mean C.R.A.Z.Y.!

It's not unreasonable for you to ask questions to fully understand the actions and implications of medications on your baby before you choose to medicate them. And 11 years ago when my baby girl was given a prescription by our allergist who refused to answer my questions, I then refused to give her the medication, because I couldn't rationalise things with myself.

So if you're wondering what are the questions you should be asking of your healthcare provider to allow you to make better decisions, I've got them for you. And more than that, I've also written the answers you should expect, or something along these lines. These questions are about facts, and so anything that deviates drastically from the answers provided should encourage you to ask more questions.

There is lot of information on this page, so please feel free to grab a cuppa and settle in... ☕

And please - if you find this useful, shout it out on social media and share this page with those others who might find it beneficial.

BEFORE YOU READ

If your baby is on any reflux medication, please don't leave thinking you've made the wrong decision. You haven't.

I, and you know that you have always made the best decision for your baby with the information you had at the time. The very fact you're the sort of parent who's searching out further answers, proves this.

Medications play a very important role in reducing the potential damage to the oesophagus, and so they give us a vital time window of opportunity to find the underlying case of your baby's reflux, address that so that they are not refluxing any longer and THEN you can talk to your child's doctor about weaning off the medications.

Before you change what you do, however, there's a few more questions I want to answer...

Domperidone - What is it and what does it do?

Watch this video to find out more.

Ranitidine was recalled. What should I do?

Watch this video to find out what this means for your baby.

Medication helped my friend / a person in a forum but not my baby... how is this?

Sometimes the medications do work wonders! I recorded this video to explain why.
